Question 1

What is Meal Pic?

Accepted Answer

Meal Pic is a calorie tracker built around your camera. Snap a photo of a meal and it estimates the calories, protein, carbs and fat, along with the vitamins, minerals and fibre in it. Your water, steps and weight sit alongside, so you can see how your days add up.

Question 2

How does the AI food scanner work?

Accepted Answer

Tap +, choose Scan food and take a photo of your plate, then choose Use photo. Meal Pic estimates what is on it, the portion, and its calories and macros. You can also scan a barcode, describe a meal in your own words, pick something from your library, or use Quick add to enter the numbers yourself. Photo and written estimates have daily allowances; barcodes, your library and Quick add do not. Estimates are a guide rather than an exact measurement, so check them before you log.

Question 3

Which nutrients does Meal Pic track?

Accepted Answer

Calories, protein, carbs and fat for every meal, and up to 30 more: 13 vitamins and choline, 11 minerals, fibre, omega-3 (ALA, and EPA with DHA), omega-6 and saturated fat. Your day is measured against the US Dietary Reference Intakes for your sex and age, and Meal Pic points out the nutrients running lowest, with everyday foods that cover them. Breakdowns come with photo and written estimates, barcode label data and saved foods; foods typed in by hand and Quick add don’t carry one.

Question 4

What is the coach?

Accepted Answer

The Coach tab is a chat about your diet. Ask things like “Where is my diet lacking?” or “How can I get more fibre?” and it answers from the meals you have logged over the past week and the goals you have set. It sticks to food and nutrition, and it isn’t medical advice.

Question 5

What do the rings on my week mean?

Accepted Answer

Each day has a ring that fills as you log your calories. A grey ring means nothing has been logged yet, a green arc shows how close you are to your calorie goal, and a filled green ring means you reached it. Tap a day to open it, or swipe along the strip.

Question 6

Can I track water, steps and weight too?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Check-in has a ruler for each of them: drag it to your number and it saves as you go. Your calorie, macro, water and step goals are all in Daily Goals, and Progress shows your weight trend and how close you are to your goal.

Question 7

Can I use kilograms or stone?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Weight can be in pounds, kilograms or stone, and you can choose your units for energy and water too. Change them any time in You, then Measurement Units.

Question 8

Is Meal Pic medical advice?

Accepted Answer

No. Meal Pic is a personal tracking tool. It doesn’t diagnose or treat anything, and its estimates and targets are a guide. Speak to a doctor or registered dietitian before making big changes to what you eat, especially if you have a health condition or a history of disordered eating.

Question 9

How much does Meal Pic cost?

Accepted Answer

Meal Pic starts with a free trial. After that it’s a weekly or yearly subscription through the App Store, and nothing is charged until the trial ends.

Question 10

How do I cancel?

Accepted Answer

Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Meal Pic. Cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or subscription renews. Deleting the app or your account doesn’t cancel a subscription on its own.

Question 11

Is my data private?

Accepted Answer

We don’t sell your personal information or use it for cross-app advertising. Trusted providers process only what is needed for sign-in, storage, AI meal estimates and coaching, barcode lookup, notifications and purchases. Our Privacy Policy explains each one.

Question 12

What happens to my meal photos?

Accepted Answer

A photo is only sent for an estimate after you choose Use photo. It isn’t saved in your Meal Pic account once the estimate comes back, although the estimate, and a reference to the picture on your phone, can be saved with the meal.

Question 13

How do I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

In the app, go to You, then Account Details, then Delete account. This deletes your Meal Pic account and account-linked tracker data. Limited de-identified, security, support, backup, legal and transaction records may be retained where necessary. App Store subscriptions must be cancelled separately.

Question 14

How do I get help?

Accepted Answer

Email support@mealpicapp.com with your device, the app version and what happened, and we’ll get back to you.
